Wickford Family Portraits

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Here’s a quick post today with a few shots I loved from a family session I did last week in Wickford. The little one just turned 1 year old, and was a ton of fun to photograph! I love her expressions!

Erin & Dan: Engaged

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

So it was windy, cold, dark, and threatening to rain at any moment.  Who says that isn’t perfect weather for an engagement shoot?  After seeing how these turned out, not I. Mother Nature was set on ruining the day, but Erin and Dan made the best of the early spring weather. They made a great choice in picking Purgatory Chasm as the setting for their engagement shoot. The contrast of the light green against the steel grey sky and rocks was perfect to frame the couple in.

I had a great time exploring the rocks and woods with them! Here are a few images that I liked!

Melissa & Patrick: Married

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

Melissa and Patrick were married this past weekend in Scituate, RI, in a ceremony at a quaint, small town church complete with the 150 year old creaky floors that make it tough for wedding photographers to move around unnoticed during a quiet moment.

The reception was held at the family’s home. It’s a gorgeous piece of land nestled out of the way of road noise deep into Scituate. There’s something about backyard weddings that really conveys a more relaxed, laid back atmosphere than most weddings. This reception was made complete by offering guests a chance to sample over a dozen different pots of homemade chili with all the fixings. There were even designated judges who awarded prizes to the best chili of the day. The tablecloths were drawn upon with messages and well wishes to the couple. A photobooth was set up and run by Seemonkey Photobooths who always provides a great service, printing photo strips and providing ways to finish each print for the couple as keepsakes.

Patrick is in the Army, and they expected him back at work first thing Monday morning, which meant changing clothes and hopping an early evening flight out of Providence. The send-off was grand, however, with all the guests lining up to wish the couple well and safe travels.

Thanks Melissa and Patrick for having me! It was wonderful to be a part of your celebration!

Brianne & John: Married

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

I love the above picture! Probably my favorite from the day!

(above taken by my second shooter, Mike)

I traveled out to Cape Cod last weekend for the wedding of Brianne & John. They were married at the Wequassett Golf Club and Resort way out by the elbow of the Cape. It’s such a different world out there; life slows down, and even in April, you get a feeling of summer. It must be in the salty ocean air out there. It was a picture perfect day – with the early reports of sprinkles nowhere in sight. I started my day at Brianne’s childhood home while she and the ladies finished getting ready and prepared to go over to the church for the ceremony.

After the wedding ceremony, we took pictures overlooking the water back at Wequassett. The sun was shining and it really looked like it could be summertime, even with temps hanging around in the 50’s. We finished up with enough time for Brianne and John to enjoy a good portion of their cocktail hour.

John’s family includes some very talented musicians – so who better to play at the reception than the Purdy Good Band, which includes John’s uncle on the drums. They played fun upbeat hits – perfect for dancing and singing along to. John sat in on drums for a few songs as well!

It was a wonderful day – thanks Brianne & John for inviting me down to share the day with you!

(below is a picture of the trolley driver for the day – I just couldn’t resist taking a portrait of him)
