Holly & Mike: Engaged

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

I met Holly & Mike last week on a gorgeous late-summer afternoon. The light was beautiful right off the bat, up until the last frame was taken. We went to some popular spots in Narragansett, ending right where they will be getting married next year at the North Beach Clubhouse. I’m sure you can see from the pictures that I had no problems getting Holly and Mike to interact with each other. These two are obviously head over heals for each other – I didn’t have to do anything to prompt them to get close for pictures. They fall into place well and seemed to tune me right out during our time together. (that’s a good thing!) Needless to say, I think we were able to get some fantastic images because of it.

Thanks, Holly and Mike – you guys were a ton of fun to hang out with! I’m looking forward to next year!

Celeste & Jay: Married

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Last week I had the pleasure of being one of about 25 people in attendance at the marriage of Celeste and Jay at the Roger Williams Park Rose Gardens. It was a very intimate ceremony with only close family and a few friends surrounding them as they tied the knot. Their daughters stood up next to them at the altar as they were wed.

From the park, Celeste and Jay went on to enjoy dinner and drinks at Spain Restaurant in Cranston. Thanks, guys, for inviting me to share in your big day!

Traci & Tip: Engaged

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I had the pleasure of recently photographing one of the most unique engagement sessions I have ever been part of! Traci and Tip are getting married in October and when we scheduled the engagement session, Traci mentioned that she might like to do it on the family’s boat out on the water. That sounded great to me! There’s nothing I like more than couples taking ownership of their session by suggesting spots that are special to them.

I met first at Traci & Tip’s newly purchased home for some pictures, then we jumped onboard and steamed out to the middle of Narragansett Bay. The final destination was simply a twilight shot of the couple and the Newport Bridge in the background.

What a fun time! It was so different than anything else – and I think it really held special meaning to Traci and Tip. Which makes it all that much cooler. I had some serious sea spray to clean off my gear when I got home – but I think the images make it all worth it.

Thanks, Traci & Tip for inviting me on board last week! I’m looking forward to October!

Lindsay & Joe: Married, Narragansett, RI

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Lindsay and Joe were married at Lindsay’s childhood home in Narragansett, Rhode Island a couple of weeks ago. I first met Lindsay and Joe at Kara & Nick’s wedding last November at the Towers where Lindsay was a bridesmaid.

Lindsay and Joe opted to do a First Look – which really helped the day flow nicely. We were able to get the formals done before the ceremony and Lindsay and Joe were able to enjoy the entire cocktail hour with their guests. I first met the guys on Ocean Road at the Atlantic Inn where typical male antics ensued. (below is a picture of one of those antics) I then made my way over to Lindsay’s home and took some pictures as Lindsay prepared with her girls. They had their first look and we rolled right into formals from there. We took a quick ride around to take advantage of some quintessential Narragansett backgrounds, mainly the rocky coastline. They held their ceremony in the front yard of the family home, then made their way out back for cocktails and dinner.

It was a simply perfect day! I was thrilled to be working alongside Jaime Nelson of Eventfully Planned again – as she made the whole day flow very smoothly. Another local favorite of mine, Flowerthyme, provided the colorful flowers.

Lindsay & Joe – thanks for putting together such a great day! And thanks for inviting me to be a part of it. These are just a few of my favorites – more to come!

Jillian & Ryan: Engaged

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

I spent some time last week running around a quiet waterfront neighborhood in Warwick with Jillian and Ryan. Jillian was a bridesmaid in Kristin and Daryl’s wedding last year. We met at the seaside chapel where Jillian and Ryan will be married in a few months and explored the area around there for a bit.

We found some great spots which included a freshly harvested corn field, a horse farm, a quiet beach, and finally, the tree under which Ryan proposed to Jillian. The last shot of the day was a silhouette of the couple in front of some cool thunder clouds that were rolling past with the evening sun reflecting off of them. It was perfect!

I’m looking forward to your October wedding, Jillian & Ryan!

Jesse & Ben: Married, Kinney Bungalow – Narragansett

Monday, August 15th, 2011

(above: these two were all smiles, the whole day)

(above: I love all the different things going on in this shot!)

Jesse and Ben were recently married at Kinney Bungalow in Narragansett on what started as very rainy day. It ultimately ended up being clear but still very humid, complete with heavy fog rolling in towards the end of the reception which made for some killer pictures!

I really love working with this extended family – as a matter of fact, I photographed Jesse’s cousin, Sarah this past winter on her wedding day!

This was my first time photographing at Kinney Bungalow – what a great place to hold a wedding! It’s got a very neat vibe to the whole place. The directional light is gorgeous and the woodwork inside makes everything feel rich and luxurious. Add to that two people who are very much in love and hugely supportive families and you get a celebration that goes strong until the last note of the last song is played.

What a great day! Thanks Jesse and Ben for having me at your wedding!

Tracy & Chris: Married, New Haven Lawn Club

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

(above right, shot by my second shooter, Dave)

What a fun day! Tracy and Chris were married last week outside at the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge, CT. All eyes were to the sky as the radar showed a big rainstorm heading towards the ceremony site. Miraculously, all the rain held off until well into the reception at the New Haven Lawn Club! Tracy and Chris were able to get all the formals done outside before heading into their cocktail hour. The New Haven Lawn Club is a stunning venue for a wedding reception! A historic building with beautiful design and atmosphere, it couldn’t have been any better.

Tracy and Chris were a pleasure to work with! They were so pumped about getting great pictures and even ventured out into the rain later on to get some great evening shots! Thanks so much, guys! I’m thrilled with the images we were able to get! These are just a few of my favorites from the day.

I’m looking forward to working with your family again next year at Amanda and Dan’s wedding! Please “like” my Facebook page for more images from Tracy & Chris’s wedding, to be posted later this week.

Kathryn & Plato: Married, Cape Cod, MA

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Below: Plato’s 96 year old grandfather giving him what I can only imagine to be some helpful tips before he says his vows.

I traveled down to Cape Cod last week for the wedding of Kathryn and Plato. They were married at the Heritage Museum in Sandwich, MA and held their reception at the Daniel Webster Inn right up the street. The rain held off and they were able to enjoy the spectacular gardens for their ceremony as well as their pictures afterwards. The gardens are amazing! What little I saw of them were just wonderfully taken care of and the perfect spot for an event like this.

Back at the Daniel Webster, several fantastic toasts were given and dinner was served. The Boston Common Band rocked the reception all evening with some of the best wedding-band-music I’ve heard in a long time!

Thanks Plato and Kathryn for inviting me to be part of your big day!

Ashley & Kyle: Married, Independence Harbor

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Love this one of Ashley’s mom looking up at her!

Ashley and Kyle were married at Independence Harbor in Assonet, MA a few weeks back. They were married on a beautiful, but very warm day. It was easily 95 degrees in the sun! What a great celebration! It was apparent that there was a lot of love in the families. Later in the evening, both Kyle and Ashley’s father each stood up and sang a song to Ashley, karaoke style. It was a great day all around! Thanks Ashley and Kyle for having me there!

(Below: The competition is getting younger and younger every day!)
