Kerry & Matt: Engaged

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Most of my clients opt to schedule their engagement session for the spring, summer, or fall – but not Kerry & Matt! They waited until the first big snowfall of the year to hold their session. We met at Goddard park which seems to be a fantastic spot to photograph in and around during any season. We explored the snowy woods area, found some picturesque pine trees that were still hanging onto their white snow accents, and finished at a perfect New England stone wall. Kerry and Matt, being the Patriots fans that they are, changed into jerseys and finished the session by making snow angels in the snow while wearing their team’s colors. I’m so excited for their September wedding! Thanks guys for braving the cold & snow!

Sammi & Dave: Engaged

Monday, November 14th, 2011

I left Rhode Island before sunrise on Saturday morning to arrive in Boston right at that perfect time of day where the city hasn’t yet woken up. I met Sammi and Dave at their Somerville home and we headed off to the Harvard area to start our early morning engagement session. Sammi knew the area well, and led the way by the Charles River and between the brick buildings that make up Harvard University. The unusual morning session was perfect in this case, because it allowed us our choice of spots to shoot without having to worry about other people getting in the way of our image making. The light was gorgeous on top of it all.

These two were so easy to work with – they fell together well and needed little suggesting of how to cuddle and get close. That always makes my job so easy!

Sammi and Dave are getting married next year in Sharon, Massachusetts. These are a few of my many favorites from the morning!

Katey & Darrin: Engaged

Monday, October 17th, 2011

I met Katey and Darrin at their Newport home last week for their engagement session. We started by exploring the streets around their house, then drove over to the Salve Regina campus where they met, and finally finished at Castle Hill Lighthouse around sunset. It was the second try for the engagement shoot – we had to reschedule due to rain the first time. I’m glad we waited – because the photographs came out great – especially the ones at sunset! Katey and Darrin are getting married next year at Oceancliff Hotel in Newport.  Katey and Darrin are friends of Holly and Mike who I photographed a few months back in Narragansett (Thanks for the referral!)

These are a few of my favorites shots – what a great couple! I’m looking forward to next year!

Holly & Mike: Engaged

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

I met Holly & Mike last week on a gorgeous late-summer afternoon. The light was beautiful right off the bat, up until the last frame was taken. We went to some popular spots in Narragansett, ending right where they will be getting married next year at the North Beach Clubhouse. I’m sure you can see from the pictures that I had no problems getting Holly and Mike to interact with each other. These two are obviously head over heals for each other – I didn’t have to do anything to prompt them to get close for pictures. They fall into place well and seemed to tune me right out during our time together. (that’s a good thing!) Needless to say, I think we were able to get some fantastic images because of it.

Thanks, Holly and Mike – you guys were a ton of fun to hang out with! I’m looking forward to next year!

Traci & Tip: Engaged

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I had the pleasure of recently photographing one of the most unique engagement sessions I have ever been part of! Traci and Tip are getting married in October and when we scheduled the engagement session, Traci mentioned that she might like to do it on the family’s boat out on the water. That sounded great to me! There’s nothing I like more than couples taking ownership of their session by suggesting spots that are special to them.

I met first at Traci & Tip’s newly purchased home for some pictures, then we jumped onboard and steamed out to the middle of Narragansett Bay. The final destination was simply a twilight shot of the couple and the Newport Bridge in the background.

What a fun time! It was so different than anything else – and I think it really held special meaning to Traci and Tip. Which makes it all that much cooler. I had some serious sea spray to clean off my gear when I got home – but I think the images make it all worth it.

Thanks, Traci & Tip for inviting me on board last week! I’m looking forward to October!

Jillian & Ryan: Engaged

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

I spent some time last week running around a quiet waterfront neighborhood in Warwick with Jillian and Ryan. Jillian was a bridesmaid in Kristin and Daryl’s wedding last year. We met at the seaside chapel where Jillian and Ryan will be married in a few months and explored the area around there for a bit.

We found some great spots which included a freshly harvested corn field, a horse farm, a quiet beach, and finally, the tree under which Ryan proposed to Jillian. The last shot of the day was a silhouette of the couple in front of some cool thunder clouds that were rolling past with the evening sun reflecting off of them. It was perfect!

I’m looking forward to your October wedding, Jillian & Ryan!

Colleen & Marc: Engaged

Friday, July 15th, 2011

I spent some time photographing Colleen and Marc last week out at their beach house on Cape Cod. They are getting married next summer in Massachusetts. I know Colleen from (way) back in college – she is good friends with an old college roommate and his wife. It was great to reconnect after a few years!

I left Providence on a 90+ degree day and arrived on the Cape to an 80 degree, windy afternoon. It’s so much fun exploring an area I’ve never shot in or around, everything is fresh and new. We stumbled upon a near-empty strip mall with some neat colors and textures to shoot against. I had a great time – it’s always so nice getting to know the future bride and groom a little better while also capturing some great images!

Thanks Colleen and Marc for having me down and showing me around!

Kathryn & Plato: Engaged; Cape Cod, MA

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

I traveled down to Kathryn and Plato’s beach house last week on Cape Cod for their engagement session. We stopped at a beach that went on forever, a quintessential Cape Cod open marketplace, and finally, Kathryn and Plato’s dock for sunset. It was such a beautiful evening! (not to mention it was 15 degrees cooler on the Cape than in RI)

Kathryn and Plato are getting married later this month at Heritage Gardens in Sandwich, MA. I’m really looking forward to heading back out for their wedding. The Cape has such a vacation-like vibe to it. Even though I’ll be working, I’m sure I’ll still enjoy my time there.

Thanks for showing me around your town, guys! Looking forward to the 29th!

Amanda & Dan: Engaged; Harkness State Park, CT

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Here’s the third of three engagement sessions that I photographed this holiday week. Amanda and Dan found me through Amanda’s sister, Tracy, whose wedding I will be photographing next month at the New Haven Lawn Club.

I met Amanda and Dan at Harkness State Park in CT and we quickly found some gorgeous public gardens, old stone buildings, rolling greens, and a little slice of ocean front. It had a lot to offer in the way of beautiful backdrops to shoot against. We ended right at sunset on the beach and were treated to some amazing colors!

Thanks for coming out to shoot for a bit, Amanda and Dan! I’m looking forward to seeing you next month, then for your own wedding next May!

Ryan & Eric: Engaged; Watch Hill, RI

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

It was a week full of engagement sessions! I met Ryan and Eric the day before our session, and since they were only in town for a short time for the Fourth of July holiday, they wanted to do an engagement session before the headed back out to the Midwest where they both live and work. Ryan and Eric are getting married next year at the Misquamicut Country Club in Westerly. We spent some time strolling around the Watch Hill area, hitting the lighthouse, the shoreline, the carousel, the Ocean House, and points between. It was a great evening!

Ryan and Eric, thanks for taking the time out of your busy holiday weekend to walk around with me for a bit!
