Meghan & Patrick: Married, New Haven Lawn Club

Monday, April 1st, 2013

I traveled down to New Haven, Connecticut a couple of weeks back for Meghan & Patrick’s wedding day. I started my day at the gorgeous Omni New Haven Hotel in downtown where Meghan and Patrick were getting ready. Once everyone was ready, we headed over to Dwight Hall on the Yale University campus for the ceremony – which was performed by Meghan’s cousin. I love weddings where a family member or close friend performs the ceremony – it always adds a nice personal touch to the wedding ceremony! After the ceremony, we took some family pictures outside, before walking the streets of New Haven a bit with just Meghan and Patrick, stopping at a few spots for pictures. Once at the New Haven Lawn Club, the bridal party relaxed with some snacks before jumping back into pictures. I got a chance to peek inside the ballroom before all the guests entered – and it looked great! I love uplighting in rooms like this one, it really adds a level of atmosphere that just elevates the whole mood!

Meghan and Patrick were introduced and went right into their first dance before sitting down for dinner. I pulled them out for 5 minutes as the sun was setting to get a handful of portraits outside the club now that the light had dropped in the sky a little bit. Back inside, Meghan surprised Patrick with a grooms cake that kicked off the dancing for the night. The dance floor was full until the last song was played! It was a great day, for sure, and a good (unofficial) start to my season!

Thanks, Meghan and Patrick! I was so happy to spend the day with you both.

Michelle & Roger: Married, Bittersweet Farm, Westport

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013

I met Michelle when she signed on to be my son Michael’s primary care nurse as he prepared to spend 12 weeks in the NICU almost three years ago. She spent each one of her shifts taking care of Michael, making sure he got the best care possible. So when Michelle asked if I’d be interested in photographing her wedding, I didn’t hesitate to say yes!

I met up with Michelle at a friends home where she preparing to go and meet Roger for their first look. Roger and Michelle enjoyed a first look overlooking the water down by where Massachusetts and RI meet, way down in Westport. After a few minutes, we took some pictures, and headed towards Bittersweet Farm where they would spend the rest of the evening. The ceremony was held in the loft of the rustic post and beam building. After Michelle and Roger said their vows, we took some pictures with family, then they headed down and enjoyed some drinks before sitting down for dinner. Once dinner was through, Michelle and Roger cut their wedding cake, and the dance floor opened. The band, “Big In Europe” rocked the house – it was great!

Thanks so much Michelle and Roger – I had a blast, and thank you for having me along!

Kara & Matt: Married, New Years Eve

Tuesday, January 8th, 2013

I started my day with Kara at her parent’s home in Cranston where I found her surrounded by her bridesmaids, parents, and close friends. My second photographer, Dave, started his day with Matt as he and the groomsmen got ready to head over to the church for the ceremony. After the ceremony, we headed over to the Quonset “O” Club for pictures, cocktails, dinner, and dancing. The dance floor was packed all night! Kara and Matt had a great crowd at their wedding, and kept things going strong through the countdown to midnight. It was great evening, and I was thrilled to ring in the new year with them!

Michelle & Josh: Married, Kirkbrae Country Club

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

Michelle and Josh were married a few weeks ago at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center. The building, if you’ve never seen it before, is simply a huge greenhouse full of exotic plant life, as well as some gorgeous diffused light. It was a pleasure to photograph there! Michelle got ready at her parents home nearby, which is where I caught up with her.

The ceremony itself was wonderful, with a close group of family and friends surrounding Michelle and Josh as they said their vows. Once the ceremony was finished, we headed into the other side of the Botanical Center for family pictures. It was nice to have access to such a nice (warm!) indoor space, because at the end of November, it was pretty chilly outside! We made a stop at the Carousel, also within Roger Williams Park, before heading up to Kirkbrae for the cocktail hour and reception. Michelle and Josh were troopers and hung around outside for a few more pictures before heading in to get warm and prepare to greet their guests at cocktail hour. Once inside, introductions were made and Michelle and Josh had their first dance. Dinner was served and dancing begun.

It was such a fun wedding – thanks Michelle and Josh for having me along!

Keighley & Peter: Married

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Keighley and Peter’s wedding day was fantastic!  As is always the case with late season New England weddings, we were worried about temperatures dipping but we truly lucked out as the sunshine beamed down and it was just a little chilly for the big day.  My second shooter, Dave and I arrived that morning to meet up with Keighley and Peter at the Newport Hyatt.  I went to meet with Keighley while Dave, went off to meet with the guys.  It’s safe to say that both the bride and groom were nervous and filled with about all the anticipation they could handle! The wedding ceremony was held at Kay Chapel in Newport.  As pretty as the chapel is by itself, things got a lot more romantic for their processional when the bag piper started to play!

After the ceremony we made our way toward Quidnessett Country Club for the reception.  We made a stop at the Wickford waterfront for some formals and Keighley and Peter’s limo driver even rolled out the red carpet for us, literally!  We had fun posing around the docks and it was a nice time for Keighley and Peter to shake off the wedding jitters and get ready for the reception to come.  We managed to beat the early sunset and get outside for some pictures at Quidnessett.  Then came the introductions and some very nice speeches. Rick from Arpeggio Wedding Entertainment did his usual great job of keeping the music going. It was a great day, thanks for having me along!

Caitlin & Dan: Married

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Caitlin and Dan were married at Ocean Edge on Cape Cod a few weeks ago. It was a gorgeous October afternoon, the sun was shining and the temperatures were perfect. I met Caitlin upstairs where her and the girls were finishing up their hair and makeup. I photographed the preparations before heading out to the mansion’s front lawn for the ceremony. After the ceremony, we took some pictures outside the mansion, then headed down towards the water for some sunset pictures. We arrived back just as cocktail hour was finishing up, and the bridal party lined up for introductions. The bridal party was announced, but before Caitlin & Dan were introduced, the doors opened and Pat the Patriot appeared and pumped up the audience a bit before the bride and groom were finally introduced to loud cheering.

Dinner was served, and the party started! I had a great time at your wedding, Caitlin & Dan – thanks for having me along!

Jennifer & Andrew: Married, Jamestown

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012

Jenn and Andrew were married a few weeks ago in Jamestown, Rhode Island. They were married outside a gorgeous old home that overlooks Narragansett Bay towards Newport. I started my day with Jenn as she got ready at her parents home a few minutes away. Andrew and the guys were dressing at the Bay Voyage downtown, which is where my second photographer, Dave met them.
The ceremony was wonderful, full of emotion and heartfelt vows. There was even a quick match of “Rock-Paper-Sciccors” to determine who would read their vows first. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails while we drove around the corner to Fort Weatherall for some pictures with the bridal party as well as just Jenn and Andrew. It was chilly out on the cliffs, but we moved quickly and we were back at Wetherledge in no time, where we finished up photographing the families and explored the property a little bit more.
The bride and groom were introduced into the tent out front where they had their first dance, then sat down for dinner, which was wonderfully prepared by the Shelter Harbor Inn. Soon, dancing begun and the dance floor filled up. It was a great day filled with fun and laughter!
Thanks Jenn and Andrew for having me – it was a blast!

Katey & Darrin: Married Ocean Cliff, Newport

Friday, October 19th, 2012

Thanks to Dave Field for the next two pictures!

Below: Katey and Darrin peek out at their guests before being introduced.

Katey and Darrin were married a few weeks ago in Newport, RI. It was a bit of a drizzly day outside, but it turned out just fine and we made some great images despite the worry about the weather.

I started my day with Katey at the Ocean Cliff Hotel where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids, while my second shooter, Dave Field started with Darrin and the guys. We took the quick drive over to St. Joseph’s for the ceremony. Afterwards, we made our way to Salve Regina’s Ochre Court mansion, where we photographed the families and the bridal party. It was still raining, but we were able to make some really incredible photographs by backlighting the rain with a small flash. We made a quick stop off at a small pumpkin patch for a couple of really cool and unique images before heading over to Ocean Cliff for cocktails and the reception. Ocean Cliff is always a pleasure to photograph!

I had a blast – it was a wonderful day! Thanks for having me, Katey and Darrin!

Liz & Eric: Married, Block Island Spring House

Friday, October 12th, 2012

If you’ve been to Block Island before, then you know, once you step off the ferry you feel like you’re in a whole other world. I think this is part of what made Elisabeth and Eric’s wedding day one of my favorites of this wedding season. The guests were 100% into the wedding celebration, with no babysitters to relive and no worries about driving late at night after having had a few drinks at the reception.

I started my day with Elisabeth at the beach house that her parents rent for a few weeks each summer. The girls were getting their hair and makeup finished as Elisabeth prepared to step into her wedding dress. We traveled back into town to St. Andrews for the ceremony, then headed back the beach house for pictures with family and the bridal party. Once we finished, Elisabeth and Eric walked down the beach for a few quintessential Block Island images before heading over to the Southeast Lighthouse for some more pictures. Some of the members of the bridal party painted the “Painted Rock” earlier in the day with well wishes for the bride and groom, so we made a quick stop there to see how that turned out. Once the island tour was over, we all headed back to the Spring House for the tail end of cocktail hour before introductions and their first dance.

After dinner, dancing started and didn’t stop until the last note of the last song was played. I haven’t been on a dance floor so packed in a very long time! After the reception ended, everyone was invited to head down to the Yellow Kitten for some more celebrating. I headed down for a few myself because, well, the last ferry had left hours prior and I had nowhere to be! Thanks Elisabeth and Eric for such a memorable wedding day! I had a blast celebrating with you both! These are just some of my favorites, more to come soon.

Theresa & Christian: Married, Providence Westin Hotel

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

(Below) Fun Fact: I photographed the weddings of all three men facing the camera. It’s always fun when high school buddies get reunited at weddings.

Theresa and Christian were married a few weeks ago in Fall River, MA. I started my day with Theresa at her parent’s home a few minutes away from St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fall River. Theresa, her sisters, and parents were all getting ready as my second shooter, Dave Field, photographed Christian and the guys at the church.

The ceremony was held in one of the largest churches I have photographed, it was simply grand! (at times I was cursing my decision to leave my bag in the last pew, as it was a good walk back up to the front of the church!) After the ceremony, we headed into Providence for pictures at the RI State House. We had the place to ourselves, with the exception of the State Police Officer sitting at the front desk. We had some fun in the State Room, took some family formals in the Rotunda, then explored the hallways and common areas a bit before checking out and heading towards the Westin.

Theresa and Christian were able to enjoy some of their cocktail hour before being introduced into the reception. Once inside, they had their first dance and sat down for dinner. Rick from Arpeggio kept the dinner music comfortable before amping it up for dancing later on. Theresa and Christian pulled out all the stops, having a photobooth in one corner and an ice cream sundae bar in another! It was a great night – I enjoyed myself!

These are some of my favorites from the day, enjoy!
