Lindsay & Joe: Married, Narragansett, RI

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Lindsay and Joe were married at Lindsay’s childhood home in Narragansett, Rhode Island a couple of weeks ago. I first met Lindsay and Joe at Kara & Nick’s wedding last November at the Towers where Lindsay was a bridesmaid.

Lindsay and Joe opted to do a First Look – which really helped the day flow nicely. We were able to get the formals done before the ceremony and Lindsay and Joe were able to enjoy the entire cocktail hour with their guests. I first met the guys on Ocean Road at the Atlantic Inn where typical male antics ensued. (below is a picture of one of those antics) I then made my way over to Lindsay’s home and took some pictures as Lindsay prepared with her girls. They had their first look and we rolled right into formals from there. We took a quick ride around to take advantage of some quintessential Narragansett backgrounds, mainly the rocky coastline. They held their ceremony in the front yard of the family home, then made their way out back for cocktails and dinner.

It was a simply perfect day! I was thrilled to be working alongside Jaime Nelson of Eventfully Planned again – as she made the whole day flow very smoothly. Another local favorite of mine, Flowerthyme, provided the colorful flowers.

Lindsay & Joe – thanks for putting together such a great day! And thanks for inviting me to be a part of it. These are just a few of my favorites – more to come!

Jesse & Ben: Married, Kinney Bungalow – Narragansett

Monday, August 15th, 2011

(above: these two were all smiles, the whole day)

(above: I love all the different things going on in this shot!)

Jesse and Ben were recently married at Kinney Bungalow in Narragansett on what started as very rainy day. It ultimately ended up being clear but still very humid, complete with heavy fog rolling in towards the end of the reception which made for some killer pictures!

I really love working with this extended family – as a matter of fact, I photographed Jesse’s cousin, Sarah this past winter on her wedding day!

This was my first time photographing at Kinney Bungalow – what a great place to hold a wedding! It’s got a very neat vibe to the whole place. The directional light is gorgeous and the woodwork inside makes everything feel rich and luxurious. Add to that two people who are very much in love and hugely supportive families and you get a celebration that goes strong until the last note of the last song is played.

What a great day! Thanks Jesse and Ben for having me at your wedding!

Tracy & Chris: Married, New Haven Lawn Club

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

(above right, shot by my second shooter, Dave)

What a fun day! Tracy and Chris were married last week outside at the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge, CT. All eyes were to the sky as the radar showed a big rainstorm heading towards the ceremony site. Miraculously, all the rain held off until well into the reception at the New Haven Lawn Club! Tracy and Chris were able to get all the formals done outside before heading into their cocktail hour. The New Haven Lawn Club is a stunning venue for a wedding reception! A historic building with beautiful design and atmosphere, it couldn’t have been any better.

Tracy and Chris were a pleasure to work with! They were so pumped about getting great pictures and even ventured out into the rain later on to get some great evening shots! Thanks so much, guys! I’m thrilled with the images we were able to get! These are just a few of my favorites from the day.

I’m looking forward to working with your family again next year at Amanda and Dan’s wedding! Please “like” my Facebook page for more images from Tracy & Chris’s wedding, to be posted later this week.

Kathryn & Plato: Married, Cape Cod, MA

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Below: Plato’s 96 year old grandfather giving him what I can only imagine to be some helpful tips before he says his vows.

I traveled down to Cape Cod last week for the wedding of Kathryn and Plato. They were married at the Heritage Museum in Sandwich, MA and held their reception at the Daniel Webster Inn right up the street. The rain held off and they were able to enjoy the spectacular gardens for their ceremony as well as their pictures afterwards. The gardens are amazing! What little I saw of them were just wonderfully taken care of and the perfect spot for an event like this.

Back at the Daniel Webster, several fantastic toasts were given and dinner was served. The Boston Common Band rocked the reception all evening with some of the best wedding-band-music I’ve heard in a long time!

Thanks Plato and Kathryn for inviting me to be part of your big day!

Ashley & Kyle: Married, Independence Harbor

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

Love this one of Ashley’s mom looking up at her!

Ashley and Kyle were married at Independence Harbor in Assonet, MA a few weeks back. They were married on a beautiful, but very warm day. It was easily 95 degrees in the sun! What a great celebration! It was apparent that there was a lot of love in the families. Later in the evening, both Kyle and Ashley’s father each stood up and sang a song to Ashley, karaoke style. It was a great day all around! Thanks Ashley and Kyle for having me there!

Before & After

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

I wanted to post another before & after image today. This one was taken a few weeks ago at the Aldrich Mansion in Warwick at Jenna & Brian’s wedding. It was during the dinner service – I had already warned them that I would try and convince them to take a few images once the light was almost drained from the sky. Jenna and Brian agreed to step outside for a few minutes, and those few minutes ended up being some of my favorite images from the wedding day.

The image below needed some tweaking out of the camera. Although it was pretty darn close color-wise.

My second shooter, Dave was standing to my right holding a small speedlight on a boom, and in order for me to get the centered composition (and the lighting) that I wanted, I had to include him and the boom in the frame. I assumed Jenna and Brian would appreciate me taking my second shooter out of the frame. I patched up the sky and facade of the Aldrich to remove Dave from the image. Going a step further, I also took the wedding guests that were hanging out on the patio out of the image. It’s not that I didn’t want them there, (really!) but the image is a quiet one, and I thought it benefited from the deletion. I removed the bar to the right of the doors on the patio, also the flare created by shooting towards the lights on the Aldrich, then patched everything up. It’s not perfect, I can still see some things i would tweak, but I think it’s much better than how it started.

Lin & Phiroat: Married; Alpine Country Club

Monday, July 4th, 2011

Above – a favorite of mine!

Lin & Phiroat were married last week at the New Apostolic Church in Providence. It was standing room only in the tiny church. The flower girls were perfect subjects all day. Lin and Phiroat then went to the Alpine Country Club in Cranston for pictures, and later, dinner & dancing. The country club really did a great job making the grounds look spectacular for pictures, and they also coordinated a smooth reception. It was a fun day! It was forecast to rain, but luckily it held off for them! Thanks for having me, guys!

Jenna & Brian: Married; Aldrich Mansion, Warwick

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

(above: catching happy tears)

(above: a butt slap on the way out for a job-well-done)

Jenna and Brian were married last weekend at St. Bernard’s Church in North Kingstown, and after a quick stop over for a round of beers at Fat Belly’s Pub in East Greenwich, made their way to the Aldrich Mansion where their reception was held.

It was such a wonderful day, full of emotion and laughter! I started down in Green Hill at the family beach house, where Jenna and the ladies got ready for the day. The fog was thick, but once we made our way to North Kingstown, it had all cleared and a gorgeous day was in store. The ceremony was held at St. Bernard’s Church, which has been recently redone and is absolutely stunning inside and out. The bridal party briefly took over Fat Belly’s Pub for a quick beer (and a round of Car Bombs) as well as a few toasts before heading up Warwick.  As usual, the grounds at Aldrich Mansion were perfect!  The bridal party was boisterous and fun, and formals were a blast.

The Aldrich always does such a nice job making sure everything goes off without a hitch. Guests enjoyed the cocktail hour outside on the patio overlooking the bay, then went inside the historic mansion for dinner and dancing.

Jenna & Brian: your wedding was a blast! It was such a fun day from start to finish – thanks for inviting me to be a part of it!

Meagan & TJ: Married at Linden Place Bristol, RI

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

Above: Meg is looking to get a peek of TJ as he walks to where they’ll meet for a first look.

The first look.

A spontaneous kiss in the doorway while waiting to be introduced.

I’ve been looking forward to sharing these images all week! Meagan and TJ were married last weekend at Linden Place in Bristol, RI on what was almost a wash-out of a day! The rain held off just long enough to hold the ceremony in the garden, then as they went inside for cocktail hour it started to sprinkle. It was so touch-and-go, they set up two sets of chairs for the ceremony, one indoors, and one outdoors.

Meg and TJ opted for a first look before the ceremony on the docks in Bristol. Then they made the short walk to Linden Place for formals, then the rest of the festivities. The grounds looked even more spectacular than I remember, I’m sure due all the rain we had over the past few weeks. Everything was so green and lush.

The reception started with some touching and funny speeches by TJ’s brother and best man, as well as Meg’s childhood best friend. They were some of the best speeches I’ve heard at a wedding. The Block Head Band played some rocking songs all night, including one where TJ took the lead vocals for a fantastic cover of Guns & Roses Sweet Child o’ Mine.

Be warned – there is a good chance that there will be a Part II blog post from this wedding, there are that many images that I really loved. But for now, thanks so much to Meagan and TJ for having me at your wedding celebration! It truly was great.
