Ryan & Erik: Married, Misquamicut Golf Club, Watch Hill

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

Ryan and Erik were married last weekend at the Misquamicut Golf Club in Watch Hill, RI. It was a hot, steamy day in Westerly – but that didn’t stop Ryan and Erik from having a wonderful time!

I started my day with my second photographer, Dave Field at the Misquamicut Club where I hung around with Ryan and her bridesmaids while Dave spent his time with the guys getting ready. We were quickly off on the trolley to Watch Hill Chapel, a quaint seaside chapel in downtown Watch Hill. Afterwards, we stopped off at a nearby beach to take some pictures along the water, before heading back to the club for cocktails, dinner, and dancing.

Ryan and Erik met at Notre Dame in college, so the wedding featured both friends from far away, as well as little touches from their alma mater. Big Ray and the Kool Kats flew in from Virginia to play their music for the wedding – and kept everyone dancing through the entire evening!

Thanks, Ryan and Erik, for having me at your wedding! It was great!

Heather & Ross: Married

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

(Above: a quick prayer before the ceremony. Taken by Dave Field)

Heather and Ross were married last weekend in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It was my first time in Lancaster – and it did not disappoint!

I met Heather at the church, where the girls were getting ready. My second photographer, Dave Field, was next door hanging out with the guys. The ceremony was wonderful, it featured special music by close friends of Heather and Ross, as well as a closing prayer by Heather’s Dad, who also happens to be a pastor back home in RI. After the ceremony and some family pictures, we went outside for some pictures of the bridal party before heading into the reception. Heather and Ross watched from afar as the guests enjoyed a slideshow. The couple was introduced, they danced their first dance, then sat down and enjoyed brunch alongside their family and friends.

After the reception, we hit the road and stopped at the tree in a park nearby, under which they were engaged.  Moving on from there, we walked around the beautiful city of Lancaster, exploring all it had to offer us for backdrops. It was so nice doing the couples pictures after everything – it’s something that I don’t often get to experience. We were all more relaxed, and we all enjoyed being able to roam around the city without keeping an eye on time.

Heather & Ross – thank you so much for having me down to your wedding – it was really a fantastic day!

Amanda & Dan: Married, Great River Golf Club

Monday, June 4th, 2012

I was in Milford, Connecticut last weekend for Amanda and Dan’s wedding. They were married at the gorgeous Great River Golf Club on a beautiful day! Amanda may look familiar – I photographed her sister, Tracy, last year. It’s so nice to be invited back for another family member’s big day.

Amanda and Dan were married outside overlooking the grounds, then moved inside the impressive clubhouse for cocktails, dinner and dancing. The whole day was a ton of fun, thanks for having me, Amanda & Dan!

Alison & Adam: Married, The Towers

Friday, June 1st, 2012

Wedding season is in full swing! With two weddings last weekend, and two more this weekend, it’s as busy as ever!

I photographed Alison & Adam last weekend at one of my favorite spots in Narragansett, The Towers. We had a gorgeous day for a wedding! Alison and Adam were married at St. Mary’s Church in Narragansett before visiting some great locations for pictures on their way to the Towers. One stop was at a basketball court on Boon Street that Adam played at often growing up. The Towers were great as usual!

Thanks Alison & Adam!

April & Mike: Married

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

April and Mike were married last weekend in Woodstock, Connecticut and held their reception at Connecticut National Golf Course. Mike is a good friend of mine and a wedding photographer himself; I was honored that he asked me to photograph his big day.

April and Mike opted for a first look before the ceremony. Though it’s not for everyone, the first look does take some of the pressure off of the time between the ceremony and the reception, allowing the couple to relax and mingle with their guests instead of spending the time taking photographs.

Thanks to April and Mike for having a fun wedding! I had a great time!

Sarah & Jim: Married

Below: Last minute vows transcription from iPhone to paper version

A quick prayer before the ceremony begins.

Bolt Coffee Company was pouring fantastic espresso for the guests all evening!

Sarah and Jim were married at a tiny church in Preston, Connecticut last week on a what was a gorgeous spring day. I started my day at Preston City Bible Church, a quaint little church that has been around for what looks like a long time. Jim finished transcribing his vows from his iPhone to good old fashioned paper in preparation for the ceremony. The guys then headed outside for a quick couple of pictures and a final prayer before the ceremony. After the ceremony, we headed to Mohegan Park for family formals and a few with just Sarah and Jim. It’s a beautiful park complete with all the spring flowering trees you could ask for. Then it was over to The Wauregan Ballroom in Norwich for their reception. Bolt Coffee Company was there keeping everyone lively with their espresso and lattes all evening. It was evident that a great time was had by all that attended – myself included! Thanks for having me, Sarah and Jim!

Of course, it’s always nice to end the post on a fun image:

Sara & Shawn: Married

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Sara and Shawn were married a couple weeks back, on a very rainy and windy evening in Newport, RI. Some brides would be upset at the weather, but Sara was upbeat as ever, regardless of the weather. I met her while she was getting ready at 41 North, then went over to Kay Chapel for the intimate ceremony. Back at cozy 41 North, Sara and Shawn shared their first dance and enjoyed greeting their guests before sitting down for dinner. We popped out of their reception for a few minutes to explore the space upstairs at 41 North, which made for some terrific opportunities for a few portraits of just Sara and Shawn. Of all the venues we could have been at that night, 41 North was probably one of the best in the area with all the (good-looking) indoor space they have available for pictures.

The guests were treated to Manny’s Montage, a terrific jazz band based out of Boston. A fantastic choice of reception music! Sara and Shawn cut their cake and dancing begun shortly after. I was even treated to a piece of their wedding cake! (Thanks, Sara, for remembering that your big day was also my birthday – the cake was delicious!)

It was a great evening – regardless of the nasty weather! Thanks for sending my 2011 season out on a high note!

Jillian & Ryan: Married

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Jillian and Ryan were married last week in the Old Buttonwoods section of Warwick. The fabulous weather, great people and cozy location of Buttonwoods in Warwick made for some fantastic images!  From getting ready to the reception’s end, the energy was high.  The high point was the purpose of the day; the wedding!  The bridal party’s entrance to Coldplay set the tone for the highly spiritual experience for guests and the happy couple alike.  After the nuptials, we made our way down to the water overlooking the bay.  We got some great images of the wedding party amidst the ocean breeze and ultra green grass then we moved on to the reception at the Casino.  Dancing, indoor bowling and that old New England charm that Old Buttonwoods embodies, made for great images and a great night!  Thanks Jillian and Ryan – these are some of my many favorites from your big day!

Joan & Mike: Married

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Joan and Mike were married on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon a few weeks back in one of RI’s best spots, Newport. It was a perfectly sunny day after most of the crowds had returned home, which is the best time to visit Newport in my opinion. Joan and Mike got ready at their Middletown home before heading down to Third Beach for some portraits. Then it was over to the Atlantic Beach Club for the ceremony, cocktails, and reception. These are a few of my favorites from the afternoon. Thanks Joan and Mike for having me at your wedding!
